Song: The Baseball Project, “All Future And No Past”
Context: The Baseball Project, an indie rock band featuring members of R.E.M. and Golden Smog which writes songs about baseball, will be at Martini Ranch tonight. It’s a super-cool project, having featured contributions from guys like Death Cab For Cutie/Postal Service singer Ben Gibbard and Hold Steady singer Craig Finn among many others over two records. The song “All Future And No Past” is all about unrealistic expectations for the coming season. I have to admit, I got a little chill when they raised the possibility of “The Tribe being doused in champagne” in this song though the Indians are far more likely to lose 100 games this year. Still, this show is the perfect way to celebrate the coming start of the baseball season.
