The DJ duo of Senbad (a.k.a. Sean Badger) and Pete “Supermix” Salaz are bringing back their old-school house music joint Batucada tonight at Cream Stereo Lounge in Scottsdale (which has pretty much been the best place to hear the genre during this past year) for a “one night only” kinda deal.
Batucada was one of the premier house nights in the Valley during the early part of the Naughties, bouncing around such bygone clubs as NEXT and SoHo in Scottsdale, as well as Ain’t Nobody’s Biz in Phoenix (which has since become Club Vibe).
Us New Times folks even gave them a Best of Phoenix on a few occasions, including this one from 2004, which perfectly described the night:
There’s a reason this weekly Scottsdale shindig has been a fixture of the turntable scene even longer than there’s been a scene in the Valley: DJ trends may come and go, but nothing gets the party people dancing like a good house music set. Resident DJs Pete “Supermix” Salaz and Senbad not only spin some sizzling wax, but sometimes even turn over the turntables to some of the best touring DJs in the country.

In addition to hot spins from Senbad and Salaz (full disclosure: Pete works for the New Times retail department), tonight’s edition will also feature an opening set by the aptly-named EHOUSE. Doors open at 9 p.m. and Cream is located 4252 North Drinkwater Boulevard in Scottsdale.
