Dobi created a meticulous list of the various music scenes amongst today’s younger generations. Your Scene Sucks currently has 30 scenesters — a list that includes the likes of “Generic Emo Boy,” “Hipster Jesus,” ‘Post Rocker” and “#1 Pete Wentz Fan.”

The illustrations — done by recent RISD grad Dobi and his wife Maggie — are spot-on and meticulously crafted. They brilliantly portray the most common scenester one might find when immersed in a particular scene. Rob Dobi even provides a paragraph that painfully sums up what, say, a Crunkcore Poser is all about, including lines like “The crunkcore movement is one that seems to be a brilliant marketing strategy by some sort of modern day Lou Pearlman who learned to tap into the brain of misguided emo kids who don’t know where to turn.”

It’s the different aspects to the scenesters, however, that makes Your Scene Sucks truly brilliant. Every scenester has their accoutrements — tattoos, haircuts, particular poses and, of course, fashion. There wouldn’t be so many goddamned scenes if it weren’t for fashion, and Rob and Maggie Dobi have seen them all — so much so that they can accurately (more so than you might see in real life) depict the most typical scenester.

As Rob Dobi reiterates what a good friend once told him about today’s music scene on Your Scene Sucks, “It’s not a fucking fashion show.”

Check out the fun at yourscenesucks.com. Just please take it with a grain of salt and have a fucking sense of humor about it, scenesters. I realize Your Scene Sucks isn’t necessarily brand new, but I just came across the site last week, and I felt it more than necessary to pass it along due to it’s spot-on brilliance.
