The Glendale Police Department announced yesterday that Jerice Hunter, the mother of missing and presumed dead 5-year-old Jhessye Shockley, was arrested for the girl’s murder.
Once it was announced in December that police believed Shockley’s body had been thrown in a Tempe trash can, Hunter’s been the one and only “focus” of the investigation.
Still, a months-long search of a landfill ended without the recovery of Jhessye’s body, and many of the details in the case haven’t been made public.

That said, based in the developments in the case over the last 11 months, is anyone actually surprised that Hunter — who’s served prison time for child abuse before for abusing her other children — was arrested for the girl’s murder?
