Well, that was a major dud.
Chris Young, the only player representing the D-Backs at the All-Star Game, produced one measly long ball in the State Farm Home Run Derby.
It sort of sums up the Snakes’ season thus far, doesn’t it?
The effort is there, but the results are nowhere to be found.

Young, participating in his first-ever derby, was the opening slugger for the festivities.
After recording a few outs, Young smashed a home run to get on the board. A big smile crept on his face.
But Young couldn’t find his groove and find the outfield bleachers anymore. In a flash, his night was over.
With the rest of the hitters still to compete, it was highly unlikely they would only hit one or none at all to not qualify for the second round.
In the finals, David Ortiz defeated Hanley Ramirez 11-5 to capture the crown.
Yet it was surprising to see Young only drive one ball over the fence. He doesn’t lead the National League or even his team in home runs, but Young hits a few out during batting practice before every game.
But the pressure and bright lights of the home run derby got to Young.
While he had a disappointing showing, Young hopefully will contribute in the All-Star Game tonight against the American League.
Even though the D-Backs aren’t sniffing the postseason, home-field advantage is on the line.
As Snakes’ fans remember from 2001, that’s important.
