Well… they really did it.

The Arizona House of Representatives — well on it’s way to becoming the laughing stock of the entire country — passed the infamous “Birther Bill” this afternoon. If it becomes law, it would require President Barack Obama to show his birth certificate to the Arizona Secretary of State if he wants his name on the ballot in Arizona for the 2012 presidential election.

If you haven’t already mailed your state representative a tin-foil hat, now may be the time to do so.

The bill passed the House with the minimum 31 votes this afternoon. As you probably guessed, they were all Republicans.

$30,000

We’ll give credit where credit is due, though, and give honorable mention to the four Republicans in the Arizona House who opposed the bill.

Representatives Rich Crandall, Adam Driggs, Vic Williams, and Russ Jones, we salute you for allowing common sense to prevail.

As for the rest of the House’s Republican conspiracy theorists: Arizona’s starting to make places like West Virginia look civilized by comparison, so thanks for that.
