Mark today on your calendars, folks: the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office issued a press release this afternoon that was about actual law enforcement — not some fruitcake publicity stunt Sheriff Joe Arpaio has in store for inmates at his jails.
Three illegal immigrants were arrested yesterday after they were busted selling cocaine to an undercover MCSO deputy.
According to the MCSO, an undercover drug-smuggling operation led to the arrest of the three men, Jose Antonio Lucio-Vega, Jesus Joel Rivera-Vizcarra, and Miguel Edwardo Levya-Lopez.
The bust happened last night in Avondale.

Following the arrests, MCSO deputies found 4.4 pounds of cocaine on the three men, as well as four AK-47 assault rifles, and an AR-15 assault pistol.
“As a matter of policy,” the MCSO will be notifying the Bureau of Alcohol Tobacco and Firearms to try and figure out the origin of the guns.
Given some current (ahem) issues over at the ATF, we’re pretty interested to find out the origin of the recovered guns, too.
One of the immigrants arrested in yesterday’s bust, the MCSO says, was previously deported in 2009.
