 The new but not-so-improved East Valley Tribune began the year with only about half of its staff, but it’s the layoffs in the Web department that are most obvious to the online reader.

You could definitely say the Trib’s new home page is, ahem, well red:

Judging by today’s Tribune reader poll, (at left), someone better on the case fast. But who’s left to do it?

The print product still looks decent, though it’s now thrown to readers for free — and just four days a week.

Interestingly, the paper has changed its masthead, downplaying the “East Valley Tribune” brand name and resurrecting the old “Mesa Tribune” brand that the city knew for decades.
