If you’re a professional athlete looking to get a DUI, Scottsdale’s your place.

In the past few years, celebrity athletes such as Mike Tyson, Charles Barkley, and Seattle Seahawks tight-end Jerramy Stevens have found themselves on the wrong end of a breathalyzer in Scottsdale, and now we can add another name to the list.

Nikolai Khabibulin, goalie for the Edmonton Oilers, got pinched on February 8; police say he was speeding through Scottsdale, drunk, in his black Ferrari.

According to police documents, Khabibulin was caught doing 70 miles per hour in a 45 mph zone near Cheney Drive about 1 a.m. and when he was stopped, police determined he was drunk.

Khabibulin, an off-season Paradise Valley resident, signed a four-year, $15 million contract with the Oilers in July but has been out for much of the season with a back injury, which might explain what he’s doing in the Valley in the middle of hockey season.

Khabibulin was at or only slightly over the legal limit of .08. He was also charged with exceeding the speed limit by more than 20 mph.
