Jeffrey West and his roommate were arguing in their Mesa home on New Year’s Eve.
Per West’s alleged line of thinking, this argument required a sledgehammer.
According to Mesa police, officers got the call after 10 a.m. on Monday, as the victim said he’d locked himself in his bedroom, because an argument got heated, and West, 37, tried to go after him with the sledgehammer.
A Mesa police spokesman says that while officers were on their way to the apartment, near Broadway Road and 56th Street, West started bashing the bedroom door with the hammer.

According to the cops, officers tried to get West to come out, but he refused. After a while, the SWAT team came in and arrested him.
West faces charges of aggravated assault, criminal damage, and disorderly conduct.
