Jodi Arias was found guilty of first-degree premeditated murder today, and now the jury must decide whether or not to put Arias to death.

The jury also found Arias guilty of felony murder.

The penalty phase of this trial, which already has lasted four months, will start at 1 p.m. on Thursday. It could go on for a few more days as the attorneys on both sides bring in witnesses.

The courtroom was packed full of family and friends of Arias and her victim, former boyfriend Travis Alexander.

A large crowd gathered both in and outside of the Maricopa County Courthouse following the announcement of a pending verdict. Observers snapped pictures of national media types doing interviews near the courthouse steps. Yellow police tape lined various areas of the new court building, cordoning off the Arias watchers and media from those conducting less-sensational court business.
