Not that Sheriff Joe Arpaio and friends haven’t looked desperate to avoid a recall election throughout this entire process, but these Phoenix billboards definitely have the distinct scent of desperation.
It was just a couple of weeks ago that Feathered Bastard wrote about Arpaio apologist John Philip Sousa IV and his hysterical plea for money to save Joe’s job. These billboards appear to be the fruit of his labor.

States the other, “Criminals’ worst enemy, our families’ best friend!”
The billboards, which Respect Arizona tells us were spotted around I-10 and Baseline, both urge people, “Don’t sign the recall!”
That seems a little pathetic compared to the cool couple million that Sousa’s independent expenditure committee, Americans for Sheriff Joe, just laid down last year to help Arpaio beat challenger Paul Penzone.
Respect Arizona still has a few more weeks to get the signatures necessary to force a recall election.
