If you ever find yourself a “visitor” at the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office, don’t expect them to roll out the red carpet; in fact, don’t even expect to have any sort of unimpeded human contact.
The Sheriff’s Office, on the 19th floor of the Wells Fargo Building in downtown Phoenix, has just installed black Kevlar walls around their offices to cover windows and prevent people from seeing what’s going on inside.
Visitors will be able to speak to a receptionist through telecoms as they sit behind glass and Kevlar.
Lisa Allen, the sheriff’s media-relations director, tells CBS 5 (KPHO) that the walls were installed because there was a need for more protection from people who aren’t all that fond of our churlish constable.

“A number of times, they’ve come up to the 19th floor,” Allen says. “They’ve tried to rush the glass plates … and made people very nervous.”
The sheriff needing protection from the very people he is sworn to protect; oh the irony!
Allen says that it was the sheriff’s security detail that came up with the idea of insulating the office, not the Arpaio himself.
“I think the public might not like the way it looks, but they’ll understand there’s a real need for it,” Allen says.
Guess this is testament to the number of people this guy’s pissed off?
