Arizona voters won’t be deciding on whether to legalize marijuana this year.
It’s not the most surprising result, but the group that had been gathering petition signatures, Safer Arizona, released a statement on its Facebook page marking the end of the group’s effort.

The group is gearing up for 2016, when the marijuana-legalization effort in Arizona will get some serious help.
The national Marijuana Policy Project plans to work to get marijuana-legalization measures passed in 10 states, including Arizona. They’ll need to collect more than a quarter-million signatures just to get it on the ballot.
In addition to these ballot petitions, Democrats at the state Legislature proposed both marijuana legalization and decriminalization bills this past year, although they didn’t make it far.
