Yesterday, federal officials met with Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords and Attorney General Terry Goddard and promised that 524 of the pledged 1,200 National Guard troops would be deployed to the Arizona/ Mexico border by August or September.
Senator John McCain, however, isn’t satisfied and claims the federal government is about 1,200 troops short of the 6,000 he and fellow Senator Jon Kyl believe are necessary to secure the border per their “10-point plan.”
We want to know what you think: Are 1,200 troops enough help from the federal government or is McCain right in his assessment that 6,000 — in addition to the other elements of his plan — are needed to secure the border.
