Arizona Republic columnist Dan Bickley planted the seed yesterday with an article suggesting that former Phoenix Suns star Charles Barkley was open to the idea of being the team’s next general manager.

The Suns have made no indication that they would even want “Sir Charles” to replace Steve Kerr in the GM spot, but because of Bickley’s article, there’s some minor buzz in Internet-land that this could really happen.

Barkley, however, says that while he wants to be a GM somewhere in the league, he wants complete control over the team — something that’s not likely to happen in Phoenix.

Barkley also says he wants to win a championship — another difficult task here in Sand Land with Amar’e Stoudmire all but out the door with no word on anybody worthy coming in to fill his giant sneakers.

$30,000

Not to mention, he’d have to give up a pretty sweet gig with TNT should he take a job with the Suns.

Odds of Barkley becoming the Suns next shot-caller may be slim, but we want to know if fans even want him in the GM spot.
