A Pinal County 2-year-old is lucky to be alive after she was rescued from a hot SUV parked in the parking lot of a Fry’s grocery store.
The girl, according to Pinal County Sheriff’s Office spokesman Elias Johnson, was left in the car for about 90 minutes.
The girl’s mother, 30-year-old Amber Chapman, is the person who left her in the car.
Chapman, the PCSO says, claims the girl’s father loaded the toddler into the car when they were still at their house. She says she didn’t realize she’d left her daughter in the car.

By all media accounts, Chapman was horrified that she left her daughter in the car — especially on a day like yesterday, when the state set heat records with the mercury hitting 116 degrees in some parts of Arizona.
Johnson says CPS and the PCSO will continue to investigate the incident, and work with the Pinal County Attorney’s Office, which will ultimately decide if charges are necessary.
