Today will likely be the day.

The Washington Post is claiming this morning that the Justice Department will file a lawsuit to try and stop Arizona’s controversial, new immigration law as early as today.

The lawsuit, the Post claims, is based on the legal doctrine of preemption, which is based on the supremacy clause in the Constitution.

In other words, the feds claim its authority — when it comes to  immigration enforcement — trumps the authority of the states, making the new law unconstitutional.
