We’re down here at the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office headquarters, checking on the latest release of documents related to the Munnell Memo investigation.
The docs we received last week, we found out today, weren’t part of the 1,022-page summary report that’s been sort of advertised by officials with the Maricopa and Pinal sheriff’s offices — they’re part of the 20,000 pages of supplemental records that back up the summary report. Flipping through today’s release of 221 pages of that 20,000, we see that it begins with a 63-page transcript of an interview with Sheriff Joe Arpaio’s fired chief deputy, Dave Hendershott. Should be interesting reading.
Arpaio plans to hold a news conference at 1 p.m. today to talk about the summary report; we plan to attend both that and the 3 p.m. news conference by Pinal County Sheriff Paul Babeu on the same subject. Babeu, of course, conducted the internal review of Hendershott and other high-ranking officials under Arpaio.
