Is there any negative national list that doesn’t have Arizona in the top 10?
Recently, Phoenix was picked as one of the worst places to raise kids. We are annually one of the worst states in terms of education , and we have some of the worst air quality in the country.
These are only a few of the negative compliations we’re in and, hey, here’s a new one:
According to a study entitled “When Men Murder Women” conducted by the Violence Policy Center, when it comes to women killed by men, Arizona ranks number 10 in the country.

Other notables: Louisiana took the top spot, Alaska somehow took second, and then you have the same list of usual suspects that join Phoenix at the bottom or top of every “best” or “worst” list in the country.
You know, New Mexico, Arkansas, places where the average years of school and amount of teeth might be hovering in single figures.
In 2007, according to the study, 61 women were murdered by men in Arizona, including six who were under the age of 18.
The average age of the female victims was 37, and 48 were white.
The study found that the majority of the women, 47 percent, were killed with guns and 92 percent knew their murderers.
Two calls to the Violence Policy Center to try and figure out what the hell it plans to do with this information, were not returned.
