The folks at PETA weren’t too thrilled with a photo we ran to accompany a story about their allegations of possible animal abuse at Arizona State University.
The photo, which we opted to run again, can be seen above.
PETA Spokesperson Holly Beal asked us to remove the photo because “it’s a distraction from the story that has absolutely no relevance to the issue. We’re also afraid that it might encourage copycat animal killings.”
In our defense, it is a picture of a bunch of dead bunnies. According to PETA’s charges against ASU, that’s exactly the issue.
We opted to not change the picture but agree that the gun-toting hillbillies in the photo aren’t exactly roll models.

There are about 40 dead rabbits in this picture, accompanied by these two idiots and their “dang, look how good we is at killin’ stuff” smirks on their faces.
Despite feelings anyone may have about PETA, killing this many bunnies may not necessarily be cruel, but it’s sure as hell unusual.
So please, if you feel the need to tell PETA how much you think they suck, fire off an angry e-mail, don’t kill dozens of animals you don’t plan to feed anybody with.
