A burglar was killed this weekend after he got a surprise visit from this owner of the home he was ransacking.

Phoenix police say the burglar, whose name hasn’t been released, was in the process of stealing things from the home of an armed security guard.

As the homeowner went into the house — near 33rd Avenue and Cactus Road — he saw the burglar exiting one of the bedrooms in the home. Phoenix Police Sergeant Steve Martos said the two had some sort of confrontation, and the homeowner shot him.

The burglar was unresponsive by the time police arrived, and he was pronounced dead at a hospital.

Police say more details will be released.

Meanwhile, here’s a tip: If you’re dumb enough to burglarize homes in an area with a high concentration of gun ownership, just stay home and play Russian roulette with yourself, and save everyone else the trouble.
