A Phoenix woman is dead after apparently running herself over with her own vehicle in what police are describing as a tragic “accident.”
Phoenix police say they found the body of 33-year-old Mendy E. Brooks pinned underneath her SUV in the middle of the road in a neighborhood near Campbell Drive and 51st Avenue about 3 a.m. today.
The investigation into the death is ongoing, but police seem convinced Brooks was the only person involved.
“There are no know witnesses, no evidence of another vehicle being involved or seen leaving the scene,” Phoenix Sergeant Trent Crump tells New Times.

Crump went on to say “we do not know how it happened or why she was out of her car.”
Brooks, an emergency room nurse in Phoenix, leaves behind four children ages 4-15.
