Sheriff Joe Arpaio called a press conference yesterday at the new Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office headquarters in Downtown Phoenix for a prostitution bust, but we didn’t get past the lobby.
Turns out, the $93 million building, at Fifth Avenue and Jackson Street, isn’t actually done yet, but we did get our first close-up look at the new HQ.

We were geared up for a full tour of the place, conveniently located on an ancient burial ground, but Arpaio spokeswoman Lisa Allen said a media tour wouldn’t take place until February. MCSO Sergeant Brandon Jones estimated the move into the new building was only about 20 percent done, as of yesterday.
Meanwhile, in a rendering of the building from the architects last year, Arpaio’s name was plastered on the side. That move didn’t make the cut.

The only reference to Arpaio we could find on the building was on a small plaque across from the entrance, where Arpaio’s name was in the same size font as everyone else.
The lobby has some nice leather chairs and a TV, though.
