Police have arrested a man they suspect was the driver during a fatal hit and run accident weeks ago.
Phoenix PD have charged Christopher W Chevalier with manslaughter, tampering with physical evidence and leaving the scene of a fatal collision.
Police suspect that Chevalier was the driver of a red, two-door 1984 Alfa Romeo convertible that witnesses said jumped the sidewalk and killed 41-year-old Anna Blaze. Blaze was walking on the sidewalk near 11th Street and Northern Avenue when the car struck her. She died later in the hospital.
Chevalier lawyered up and the next day his attorney told police Chevalier’s car “may have been involved in the collision,” according to a police report.

Chevalier parked his car in his garage, police said, and by the time detectives got a search warrant the car had been cleaned and its front window removed and placed in the garbage.
Yesterday an eyewitness came forward and identified Chevalier from a lineup, which is why police were able to place him behind the wheel and charge him, Sergeant Trent Crump with the Phoenix PD said. Forensics and DNA should take about six more weeks to finish.
