Just heard from a reliable source who got a phone call at home this morning from a pollster who wanted to get feedback about Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio.

The caller wanted to know how our Phoenix-area source felt about the possibility of Arpaio running against Senator John McCain in 2010. After that, the caller asked the same question, but this time the hypothetical race was between Arpaio and Governor Jan Brewer.

The sheriff has made noise before about a possible run for governor and recently told the local Business Journal that he would “never say never.” Perhaps he or his supporters are floating trial balloons.
