Kudos to Channel 12’s Brahm Resnik for this story about state Senate President Russell Pearce landing in scalding H2O with his own Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
I was at the same recent Republican Legislative District 18 meeting, and when I learned about the footage of it available online (Pearce had banned cameras from the event), I wanted to do the same story, but Resnik beat me to it. Bully for him.
I’m sure many of you have seen it already, but I post it here as a public service. I was heartened to see the brilliant, local LDS leader Daryl Williams interviewed for the piece. Williams is a stalwart enemy of nativism, and I’ve written about his pro-immigration lectures in the past.

At a time when the LDS church is spending millions on TV ads presenting its faith as open and diverse, Pearce is a serious embarrassment. Pearce’s enforcement-only views on immigration are in direct contradiction with the Mormon church’s June statement on the issue.
Worse, still, Pearce is a serial prevaricator, while LDS followers are admonished to be honest in their dealings with their fellow men. About a year ago, I wrote a blog post pointing out that, at least according to the teachings of the LDS church, Pearce is a bad Mormon.
He’s also a bad Republican, a bad Arizonan, a bad American, a bad (though practiced) liar, and overall a bad human being. Hopefully, LD 18 voters are beginning to get the message.
