As we reported this morning, Phoenix Coyotes captain Shane Doan’s participation in tonight’s decisive seventh game of the Western Conference playoffs against the Detroit Red Wings would be a game-time decision.
While it’s not quite game time, it’s reported that Doan will not be in the lineup when the Coyotes try to win their first playoff series in team history.
KTAR’s John Gambadoro is reporting that the decision has been made and that the injury Doan suffered in game three of the series with the Red Wings will keep him from playing in game seven tonight.
Doan hurt his shoulder after chasing the puck into the Detroit zone and tripping over Red Wings goalie Jimmy Howard.

After tripping, Doan went crashing into the boards and hasn’t played in a game since.
Doan has practiced with the team almost everyday since suffering the injury, but Coyotes Coach Dave Tippett told reporters yesterday that unless Doan is capable of physically being “all in” for tonight’s game he probably wouldn’t play.
