Paul Babeu is on the defensive — again.
This time the embattled Pinal County sheriff has hired the Rose Law Group to defend him from a second round of allegations from his sister, Lucy, that he engaged in a sexual relationship with one of the students from DeSisto School in Massachusetts.
Read New Times’ feature story about the first round of allegations that Babeu abused his power by using his Mexican ex-boyfriend’s visa as leverage to keep him from exposing their relationship. Those claims made by Babeu’s ex are now under investigation.
But now, it’s Babeu’s sister who has something to say.

Babeu served as the executive director and headmaster of the DeSisto School from 1999 to 2001.
KTAR is among Valley media reporting that Lucy Babeu also alleged that her brother had a sexual relationship with a 17-year-old boy, Joshua Geyer, at the school.
Lucy Babeu told the ABC15 Investigators that she confronted her brother after finding a student from DeSisto school living with Babeu. She claims that Babeu told her that the young man was his “boyfriend” and that he loved him.
Babeu’s new attorneys at the Rose Law Group fired back with medical records to discredit Lucy Babeu and call her mental stability into question. (So what happened to Chris DeRose, the sheriff’s personal attorney and Congressional campaign adviser who was handling this firestorm?)
As Babeu explained to a radio talk-show host in San Fransisco — this is a very “messy” situation. And it keeps getting messier.
But it’s one that Babeu could easily have avoided with a little discretion.
