Valley cop shops are asking the public’s help in tracking down the “$60 Bill Bandit,” who authorities say is responsible for a string of bank robberies that occurred in the east Valley over the last few months.
The nickname is funny for one reason: the suspect seems to think United States currency is issued in $60 bills.
In one of the robberies the bandit is suspected of committing, he asked the teller for the cash in nothing but $20s, $40s, and $60s.
The bandit is suspected of committing four robberies in total, one each in Mesa, Chandler, Tempe, and Gilbert.

In his most recent heist, police say the bandit entered the Bank of America on South Power Road in Gilbert on December 23, approached a teller, and handed her a note saying he had a gun and wanted all of her money.
The teller handed over the cash, which the bandit placed in a leather portfolio notebook. The suspect left the bank on foot. No vehicle was seen.
Silent Witness is offering a reward of up to $1,000 for information leading to the arrest or indictment of the bandit.
The suspect is described as a white male, 55 to 60 years old, 5-foot-10 to 5-foot-11 inches tall, 165-175 pounds, bald. He was seen wearing a light
colored striped button-down shirt, dark-colored jacket, dark sunglasses, light brown suede gloves, and khaki pants.
Police say no weapon was seen during the robberies but the suspect should be considered armed and dangerous.
