A Scottsdale concert promoter who wrote a bad check to the Steve Miller Band was sentenced yesterday after pleading guilty to felony check fraud back in February.
Robert Alfred Green, 48, was sentenced to probation and ordered to pay the band restitution.

In November of 2008, Green promoted a Steve Miller Band concert in Casper, Wyoming, where he agreed to pay the band $90,600 for the performance.

A representative for the band called police, who began investigating Green and arrested him.
Green originally claimed that he had struck a deal with the band’s manager, who agreed not to cash the check until there was enough money in the account and got the go-ahead from Green.
The manager denied those claims.
This isn’t Green’s first brush with the law. In 2007, he was convicted of running an illegal money-making scheme while selling used cars in Scottsdale. In that case, court documents say Green paid another used-car dealer with a series of bad checks.
At his sentencing, the judge told Green that if he violates his probation, he could be sent to prison for four to seven years.
