The Homer News in Alaska last night covered Scottsdale resident Joe Pinto’s catch of a 575-pound salmon shark on Monday, giving some more details — including the fun factoid that Pinto’s an environmental planner for the Maricopa County Department of Transportation.
A few seconds of Googling reveals that he’s also the president of the local chapter of the National Association of Environmental Professionals.
He certainly knows how to enjoy the environment, dragging the monster fish aboard after an “hour-long struggle” and eating some of it at the charter boat’s office:
We threw some butter and pepper on it and it was good – kind of like a fishy halibut,” said Pinto.
