The Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office found two dead bodies in the desert Southwest of Gila Bend that they believe are the remains of Mexican nationals trying to enter the country illegally.
The bodies were said to be “heavily decomposed.”
Deputies say the bodies were found by “Angels in the Desert,” a church group that patrols in search of illegal immigrants who need food and water.
While police are still investigating the circumstances behind the deaths, authorities believe the bodies may have been there for nearly five months.

Arpaio issued this statement about the bodies:
“This is a very risky way to enter the United States and sadly many die while doing so. I encourage immigrants to utilize the proper channels and obey all aspects of state immigration laws.”
Right, Joe. That’s gonna work.
