Oregon this, Oregon that. Sure, the Pacific Northwest spot is bomb-ass with its ocean, trees, and, of course, Portland. But until recently, the state was actually kind of un-American.

You see, until this year, the University of Oregon in Eugene, one of the state’s largest public institutions, hadn’t fielded a baseball team since 1982. Quite the oddity, especially considering that the Ducks’ main rival, the Oregon State Beavers, captured back-to-back College World Series titles in 2006 and 2007.

So how are the Ducks doing during their first campaign in 26 years? Well, at the time of writing, they’re cemented in last place and ten-and-a-half games behind the Pac-10-leading Arizona State Sun Devils, the Top 5-ranked team that’s attempting to capture its third Pac-10 title in a row.

The ASU baseball squad tries to zip the lips of the Quack Attack when the Devils take on the Ducks in a three-game set at Packard Stadium.
