Tell the average Valley resident that a few hundred barbarians are running wild down in Florence, and they might logically assume that there’s been a prison break.
If you hear any reports this weekend of rowdy and raucous throng descending on the sleepy hamlet to the south, don’t fret. It’s just the adrenaline-fueled participants of this year’s Warrior Dash heading for Canyon Moon Ranch, 27101 East Price Station Road in Florence, for the two-day race taking place on Saturday, April 30, and Sunday, April 1. Boorish brutes and warlike wenches will run amok through the muck as they trudge their way in wild costumes through six kilometers of hellish obstacles — including rope climbs, mud pits, and jets of flame — during 20 different heats throughout the weekend. Once the dust settles and all of the valiant racers are dirty and drained, the champions will be crowned and mass merriment will ensue.
In other words, it’s going to be one gnarly race followed by one helluva party.
Although all the slots for this year’s race have been filled, the public can come out to watch all the mud and madness for free.
