Our city’s runners usually pound out their lengthy jaunts on sidewalks and asphalt. Yuck. Those dedicated souls deserve a better environment – one that doesn’t mean inhaling exhaust and dodging speeding cars. And since Phoenix boasts thousands of acres of desert preserves, the McDowell Mountain Frenzy Trail Runs fit the bill. The event on Saturday, January 23, features a 5k, 10-mile, or 25k jaunt that spans some of our best desert terrain. Water and aid stations will fill up participants with electrolytes every three miles as they keep pace in the rocky, rugged, and rolling trails.
