We wouldn’t outright bag on performers like Lady Gaga or Justin Bieber (at least, we shouldn’t — he’s just a kid, after all) but it gets a little tiring to constantly witness music performances that are polished, buffed out, and cleaned up so they’re ready for a mass audience.
Sometimes we miss the raw thrill of cringing through awkward chord changes and rigid stage movements. We like to see the process and relish in the glorious moment when performers actually get it right.
That’s what Walk-in Wednesdays are all about. With Tempe Town Lake as a backdrop, emerging songwriters will treat the audience to their not-so-perfect, not-so-boring music in the building’s lounge. Hosted by Walt Richardson of Radio Phoenix, the last open mic night of the season will feature performers who may be looking for a spot in June 2 Songwriters’ Showcase at TCA.
