While it doesn’t pay to piss off someone from either the far-right or far-left, the righty will just have you terminated. The lefty will harangue you, oh so slowly, to death. Danish intellectual Bjørn Lomborg can surely relate.
The former director of Denmark’s Environmental Assessment Institute cut against the leftist grain with his book The Skeptical Environmentalist and its follow-up, Cool It, in which he called for a pull-back on the global-warming front, arguing that the world’s meager resources would be better served in the short term on more pressing issues such as AIDS and world hunger.
Despite a decade-long bludgeoning from the left, Lomborg has held fast, laying out his position in a lively lecture that became the video An Evening With the Skeptical Environmentalist. The Phoenix Objectivists screen it and host a discussion.
