Turning 34 years old isn’t exactly a red-letter date in life. It’s just another step away from the blissful ebullience of your twenties and two years removed from getting booted out of the coveted 18-to-35 demographic.

Although most folks would probably avoid celebrating said occasion, local turntablist Tricky T has booked a massive birthday blowout for himself and a dozen of his DJ cohorts called Spank Factory. T might not be getting any whacks on his hiney during the party, but he will be collaborating on a super-size “sound collage” with his friends. The Bay Area’s DJ Goldenchyld and his hip-hop/electronic group, The Bangerz, are stopping by, as is a virtual “who’s who” of Phoenix’s club scene. Emile and Radar, members of the Valley’s Bombshelter DJs, are on the guest list along with Bigie, Crusher Soundsystem, J. Paul, and others. (The event is also a kickoff for Tricky and the Bombshelter crew’s Wednesday night weekly CTRL-ALT-DEL.)
